Sunday Roast in Stepney

Last Sunday just gone your correspondent had the pleasure of waking up at midday with a heavy head after yet another late Saturday down the Lane. G 'n T may be considered one of the "healthier" drinks but it certainly didn't feel like it on this particular cold winter Sunday, complete with interminable grey sky et al. So what better than a call to one's bestest (and only) Essex-girl-of-Laotian-descent friend and swift arrangements were made to visit the lovely Miss L's new flat adjacent Stepney Green tube in one of Tower Hamlets' most famous 9-storey monolithic council bloques! A swift strip in - sorry I meant trip to - JS later and vast quantities of red 'n roast ingredientes had been acquired, sufficient to sweep away any lingering hangover and finish the weekend with a flourish. Three hours later the results were on the table and the only complaint was that just the two of us were there to witness the impressive results, homemade gravy to the fore! Well maybe not so impressive looking judging by the visual trickery of the dodgy photo upload below, but life ain't perfick....

Can we do that every Sunday please?

Hackney in a Winter Wonderland

One

5.5 years in East London.

5.5 years of fascinating times and fascinating people.

One very overdue blog.

In the coming months, the author will be making up for all those years not writing about life in the East End in the twenty-first century by doing just that, writing about the life and times of those living in the East End in the early C21! With a vast plethora of East-End specific subject matter to focus on, particularly music, art, fashion, architecture, urban renewal, gentrification, culture clashes, nightlife etc etc, there is plenty to discuss and ideas, comments, thoughts etc are more than welcome. If there is a subject which interests you, get in touch and we'll see what we can do!

And remember: Once a Hackney Wanker, always a Hackney Wanker! x
